In an emotional Instagram post in October 2020, Lewis explained her decision to go public with her diagnosis. “I want to talk to you about something I found out about a month ago. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer,” she shared. She further emphasized the importance of self-exams, urging women to be proactive about their health. “If you don’t have insurance, go to Planned Parenthood… Please, please, please check yourself. Early detection is the best detection.”
Beyond her work at MTV, Lewis hosted several other television programs, including “The Ananda Lewis Show,” a daytime talk show, and “BET’s Teen Summit.” Her career was marked by her engaging personality and her ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
